Use a Baby Bathtub until
the Baby is about 6 Months old

A baby bathtub is available in many different shapes and sizes. For the comfort and support of the baby, some have a back and a head support. Most tubs can be placed in a sink or on a counter.

Many of the newer models have a mesh inner lining to prevent the baby from sliding around.

Some tubs have a special design that makes it safer for the baby. The interior is made of soft material and one end of the tub is elevated. A mesh lining supports the newborn and helps keep the head above water. Some have special inserts that are used until the baby can sit up. Price range is about $25-35.

Look for the following features:

  • The interior of the tub should be soft material.
  • The inner lining should be slip resistant.
  • A rounded top around the sides of the tub makes it easier to carry.
  • The material should be sturdy. It should not bend, when the baby is inside.
  • It should have a drain with an attached plug.
  • It should fold for easy storage.
  • The seat should be padded and slip resistant. This will help keep the baby in a safe and comfortable position.
