A soft and comfortable
Baby Blanket

When can a baby sleep with a baby blanket? The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that the baby should be at least 12 months old before blankets are used. It is best to use a thin one and cover only the lower half of the baby's body. Also tuck it in at the sides of the crib.

Various styles, colors and materials are available. For young babies it might be better to buy adjustable fleece wraps. These wraps might be safer. Price is about $12.

Once the baby is older, receiving blankets might be a good choice. They are lightweight, soft and come in pleasant colors. They are usually machine washable and machine dryable. Average size is about 29" x 30". Average price for a set offour is about $10-16.

Instead of blankets, consider a sleep sack. This is a wearable blanket that might be safer. It is worn over pajamas. The sleep sack does not have sleeves for safety reasons. Price is about $26-32.

Fleece blankets are soft and usually come in pink, blue, red or white colors. They cost about $12. Chenille blankets are ultra soft and are available in various colors. Price is about $60-120.
