A Quality Baby Monitor
will make you feel at Ease

A baby monitor gives you some indication on how your baby is doing when the baby is in another room. A monitor is especially convenient when the parent's bedroom is on a different level than the baby's room. It gives you some assurance, not only at night, but also during the day when the baby is taking a nap.

There are several types available. As a general rule, it is best to buy a recognized brand name like Evenflo, The First Years, Graco or Fisher Price.

Cheap models tend to have poor reception and static noise. To cut down on interference, you can choose one with two channels. Good sound quality will let you hear, if the baby is talking or crying. Very sensitive types will let you hear, if the baby is breathing.

If you want to feel completely at ease, consider a video monitor. When choosing a model, take into consideration, if your home has more than one level.

Popular models are:

The Graco Ultra Clear Monitor has two receivers and two channels to reduce interference. Price is about $30.

The Childview TV and Video Monitor is a deluxe model marketed by Safety First. You can watch your child on a 5 inch black and white screen. Price is about $150-190.
