1. A pressure mounted gate usually has two sliding panels that can be adjusted to make the gate fit the opening. This type does the job when used to separate two areas on the same floor level. It also works well at the bottom of a stairway. It prevents a child from crawling up the stairs. A pressure gate is easy to install, but it is also easy to pull apart. 2. A hardware mounted gate
or permanent gate requires screws for installation.
It is more secure and better if used at the top of the stairs.
Keep large toys away, because they can be used as a stepping stool for climbing over the gate.
