Routine Baby Skin Care
A baby's skin is soft, sensitive and needs proper baby skin care.
In general, it is best to use brand name baby products. Many over the counter
shampoos, moisturizers and cleaners have good looking packages, but the products might not be gentle to the baby's skin. Some products just smell good.
The good smelling aroma is only an added substance and can cause irritation. In general, it
is better to use products that are fragrance free.
Basic rules to follow:
- Change diapers as soon as necessary. Use fragrance free wipes to clean the baby.
Gentle lotion or ointment can be used to prevent diaper rash.
- Use baby laundry detergent to wash the baby's clothes.
- After the baby's bath, use an infant lotion to protect the baby's skin.
- Avoid exposure to the sun. Young babies should spend little time in the sun. Use sunscreen with SPF 15
or greater.
