Choose a convenient and easy to use Baby Thermometer
A baby thermometer comes basically in two types: 1. mercury thermometer
2. digital thermometer. Which one is preferred for your child? Ease of use
and cost should help in your decision.
The digital ear thermometer has become very popular. Readings take only
1-3 seconds. It is recommended for children over 1 year of age. Price range is about $40-80.
The digital model for the underarm or the tongue is less expensive. Price is
about $6.
The rectal type is recommended for children under 2 years of age. Follow
the manufacturer's instructions when using it. It takes about 2-3 minutes to get a
reading. Price is about $3.
The oral type is placed under the child's tongue for about 2-3 minutes.
It is recommended for children over 3 years of age. Price is about $3.
Digital thermometers work faster than mercury types, but mercury types are just
as accurate and are less expensive.
