Desired Requirements for
Babysitter Jobs

Babysitter jobs are very important. When you are babysitting you accept the responsibility to keep the child safe and happy.

Basic qualifications for babysitting are:

  • Be in good health
  • Being knowledgeable about kids. You should be familiar with techniques of feeding, diaper changing, dressing and playing with children.
  • You should have taken classes for CPR and first aid or a high school babysitting class.
  • You must like children. Children recognize if you like them and respect you more.
  • Be responsible and recognize any signs of danger.
  • Be polite and act in a friendly manner.
  • Have a mature attitude. Don't invite a friend or spend much time on personal phone calls. You should never have visitors, unless you have permission from the parents.
  • After babysitting, leave the house in good order. Help the children pick up toys, which they have used.
  • Write down any phone messages for parents accurately.
  • Leave notes for the parents about the children's behavior and any problems.

You should also be familiar with:

  1. What is the expected time period that you will be babysitting? How many hours? Will there be a regular schedule, like weekly or certain days?
  2. How much do you charge? After discussing the job, state your rate.
  3. Are there any other task to be done, like dish washing?
  4. How will you get to their home and back?
