What is the standard babysitter rate for a teenage baby sitter?

The standard or average pay can vary depending on where you live, the number of children to supervise, the experience and age of the babysitter.

How to choose a babysitter?

Some say a child is not qualified for babysitting until age 14. But the parent should be able to judge, if a younger sitter is qualified.

If your child is an infant, the babysitter should have experience in dealing with young children. It would be ideal, if the sitter has taken classes for CPR and first aid or a high school class on babysitting.

The parent should make sure that the sitter does not drink alcohol, smoke or have friends visiting without permission.

Always ask the babysitter for references, unless the babysitter is recommended by friends or relatives.
