Review these Babysitting Tips
to be well prepared

Below are some babysitting tips that will make you more prepared for the job:

  • Take your time to get close to a young child. Most young children are shy and scared of strangers. Give the child time to get used to you.
  • Speak clearly when you meet the family for the first time. Greet each child by the name. Be friendly and smile.
  • Leave the house in good order. Wash dishes that you used. Help children pick up any toys.
  • Take messages for the parents correctly. If the children don't behave, don't get angry. Just write a short note to the parents explaining what happened.
  • Do not invite personal friends over, unless you have asked the parents.
  • Ask the parents what the guidelines are for watching television or food the children can have.
  • Ask the parents if the clothing you wear and how you look is acceptable.
  • Be sure you have told the parents what you charge and how you would like to get paid.
  • Ask how long you will be babysitting. Bring a magazine or book along to read, once the children are put to sleep. You can also do some homework.

These tips will make the job easier and help assure that everything will go as planned.
