The best Baby Formula depends
on what your Baby prefers

What is the best baby formula for your child? Breast milk provides the best and cheapest nutrition for your baby. If you decide to use infant formula, check with your doctor what type of formula he recommends.

There are three major types available:
1. The most common types are milk based formulas. Some babies are allergic to cow's milk.
2. If your baby is allergic to cow's milk, your doctor might recommend soy based formulas.
3. Protein hydrolysate formulas are easier to digest.

Three forms of infant formulas are available:
1. Powdered formula is the most used type. It is the least expensive and must be mixed with water.
2. Concentrated liquid formula must be mixed with water.
3. Ready to use formula is the most convenient type, but it is also the most expensive type. It does not require mixing.

Major brand name formulas are Enfamil, Nestle Good Start and Similac. All infant formulas sold in the United States must meet the same nutrition standards set by the FDA.

You can save on generic formulas that are sold by Walmart, Costco or Sam's. Food Chains and Drug stores sell baby formulas, but they are usually more expensive than Walmart, Cosco or Sam's brands. You can also check online retailers. You can get free shipping on larger quantities.

If you plan to use formulas, ask your doctor for a recommendation. Many companies offer free samples. Your baby might prefer only a particular brand. Samples might be a good way to experiment. Review: How to get free Baby Formula
