Hypoallergenic Baby Formula
helps Infants with Food Allergies

For most infants it is proper to use a standard formula, which is made from cow's milk and supplemented with iron. A small percentage of infants develop food allergies, colic or other symptoms. These infants can use a hypoallergenic baby formula, because the cow's milk protein has been broken into smaller pieces.

Popular hypoallergenic formulas:

1. Enfamil Nutramigen Lipil is lactose free. It is for babies with milk protein allergy or colic.

2. Pregestimil Lipil (Enfamil)is iron fortified and lactose free. Lipil includes all the benefits of DHA and ARA, which are nutrients found in breast milk. DHA and ARA are fatty acids that are important for developing the eyes and brain.

3. Similac Alimentum Advance is suited for infants with protein allergy and colic.

4. EleCare contains DHA and ARA. It is recommended for infants with severe food allergies. It is not available over the counter and can only be used with the supervision of a doctor.

5. Neocate is suited for infants with cow milk allergy. The formula can be purchased through a pharmacy.
