Portable play yards can be folded and put into a carrying bag for travel. Play yards provide a place for the baby to play or take a nap. The newer models have hinges that automatically lock after the play yard is set up. This is an important feature. Only models made after the year 2000 have this safety requirement.

Features should include:
1. Wheels on one end make moving the play yard easier.
2. A sturdy carrying bag with handles.
3. A firm floor pad that is usually made up of four connecting panels.
4. Zippered storage pockets on the outside to hold toys and baby items.
5. A canopy, if you use the play yard outside.
6. A changing table that attaches to the top.
