Sturdy and
beautiful Toy Chests

Toy chests are available in a variety of wooden, plastic and custom made styles. Look for styles that will hold a lid open in any position. It is also recommended that the chests have holes for ventilation. A sturdy constructed chest, will give many years of use and can be passed on to the next generation.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission has noted that lids of some boxes have caused serious injuries to young children. The injuries happened when the lids fell on the children's heads. Be sure that the lids have strong hinges and stay open in any position.

It is important that the chests have ventilation holes. Children climb into the chests and close the lids to hide and can suffocate if there is no air circulation. Price range for toy boxes is about $50 to over $300.

Wooden toy boxes are great for storing toys, books and other things that children play with. Many toy chests are attractively designed and finished. They can be put in any room, not only in the kid's room.

Check for sharp edges that could cut the skin of children. The finish of the boxes should be safe, non toxic and washable with light soap and water.
